Edgar Varela Fine Arts in proud to present "Patterned Spaces", the new body of work by artist Christina M. Felice. Felice's latest collage series, "Patterned Spaces", combines vintage illustrations and sewing patterns collaged with cutouts of the human form, blur the lines between irony, kitsch and subtext. This union evokes the most delicate suggestion of memory, hints of fleeting experiences from our past and the people there who continue to haunt us. September 19 – October 16, 2009

Felice’s work explores literal, fabricated, imagined and nostalgic applications of sexuality, treating mortality as more of a social expression rather than a biological existence or destiny. “My observations are a documentation of my process of discovery, my childhood, and modern ideas of femininity and feminism,” says the artist, making Patterned Spaces both a personal and political expression brought together in the present tense.
Felice was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She received her BFA from Tyler School of Art of Temple University in Philadelphia. She will begin her MFA studies in the fall of 2010. Her work has been exhibited throughout the United States and Italy. Felice lives and works in Los Angeles.
